east of the Chora Sfakion, is the site of
the old "Castle Franco" (Franchise Castle), built by
the Venetians in 1371 as a defense against pirates and Cretan
rebels.

300m eastern from the castle there is the beach of orthi ammos
(ammos is sand in Greek).
To
the eastern side of this beach there is also a spring with drinkable
water.
